For Attorneys & Their Clients

The science is complicated. Your story doesn't have to be.

Senior building envelope experts with deep experience and elite communication skills. We produce clear, fact-based reports and testimony grounded in the contract, the codes, and the standards that actually apply.

Construction defect and water intrusion cases turn on technical clarity. The expert who can explain the failure in language a judge or jury can follow — without ever overstating the science — is the one who moves the case.

That's the practice we've built. We tell it like it is, ground every opinion in a defensible record, and translate complex envelope failures into language that holds up under cross.

Engagement Phases

How a typical matter unfolds.

We typically work in phased fixed-fee scopes so you and your client know what to expect at each step. Most matters move through these general stages.

Phase 1

Initial Case Assessment

Document review, site walk if available, and a candid technical read on the merits. We tell you what the building is telling us — including the parts that don't help your case.

Phase 2

Investigation & Findings

Field investigations, exploratory openings, water testing, and forensic analysis. Documented to a standard that holds up to opposing experts and to the court.

Phase 3

Reports & Testimony

Written expert reports, deposition prep and testimony, mediation support, and trial testimony. Plain-spoken, grounded, and defensible.

We work for attorneys prosecuting or defending construction disputes.

Plaintiff, defendant, insurer, owner, contractor, architect, subcontractor — our perspective is always the same: we are expert fact finders and educators.

Common Matters

Water Intrusion

Roof, wall, window, curtain wall, and below-grade leaks. The biggest single category of envelope litigation.

Common Matters

Construction Defects

Workmanship, sequencing, and design defects in roofing, cladding, and fenestration. Often multi-party with overlapping responsibility.

Common Matters

Premature Failures

Roofs, walls, or sealants failing well before their expected service life. Often a question of design vs. installation vs. material.

FAQ

What's a typical engagement structure?
We typically work on phased, fixed-fee scopes. You and your client know what each phase costs before it starts. Hourly engagements are available where the scope can't reasonably be predicted.
Where are you licensed and where do you testify?
We are licensed and work in multiple states across the East and Midwest.
How early in a matter should we bring you in?
Earlier is almost always better. A modest initial review at the front end frequently changes how a matter is framed — what claims to assert, what to defend, and how to allocate investigation budget. Late retention reduces options and often means missed opportunities for gathering and analyzing information.
Do you do confidential consulting where you don't appear on the record?
Often. Many of our engagements are behind-the-scenes — helping counsel read opposing expert reports, prepare for depositions, or stress-test theories before they're committed to in writing.
What sets you apart from other envelope experts?
Two big things. First, building envelope is 100% of our practice — we're not generalists. Second, we communicate clearly. The world is full of credentialed experts who can't connect with a real person; that's not us.

Have a case to talk through?

We respond promptly to set up an initial, confidential discussion. Tell us about the building, the parties, and where you are in the process — we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
